People always assume mental health professionals are required to be perfect.
Mental health has gotten a reputation for being “big and scary”. Although it is important, often times it is no more of a big deal then physical health.
Let’s talk treatment.
Most therapy is nothing more then processing and gaining skills and education. This is no different then a doctors instructions on treating normal illnesses.
Even when medication is recommended or needed it is far less scary then most think and many only need it for a short time.
Just like visits to the ER impatient care is there to help those who need it.
Our mental health is always changing. Nearly everyone will struggle with mental health issues in thier life just like everyone with struggle with physical health issues. Some will gain the tools they need to “cure” or manage, while others may continue to need professional support.
Starting a conversation about mental health is the first step in progressing towards positive representation. Only through education can we hope to break the stigma of mental health and provide the support required for change.
